The Altar Guild consists of dedicated and trained lay people of the parish whose ministry is to care for the altar vestments, vessels, and linens used in worship. They set the altar then clean, polish, and return everything to its place afterwards. They are also responsible for the beautiful flower arrangements you see decorating our church.”

The Ushers/Greeters ministry is a vital part of the worship service. Its purpose is to ensure that all visitors are made to feel welcome at Saint Sebastian’s by-the-Sea They also see that parishioner’s needs are met, that portions of the service flow smoothly, and that the church is left in good condition for the next service.
The role of the Usher/Greeter is very important to parishioners and visitors. They make everyone feel welcome when they enter the church, help them find seats, and ensure that everyone is informed of what is expected during the service (through the use of the bulletin). They represent the entire congregation in the offering of bread, wine and monetary contributions to the altar. They also make certain that the church remains in good condition so that the next group of parishioners may enjoy their worship experience.
Ushering and Gr“Greeters are a vital part of the worship service. Their focus on Sunday’s is to welcome worshippers as they enter the church, hand out service bulletins, help them find their seats, answer questions, and provide other assistance as needed. They give out a welcome bag to first time visitors containing a gift and information about our church. Greeters also facilitate the movement of worshippers to the altar rail during Communion. After worship, they inspect the church to make sure that it is left in a clean, orderly condition.
For additional information or a willingness to serve as a Greeter, please email office@saintsebastians.org or call (321) 723.3015 for more information.
Every woman in the parish belongs to the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) group. At St. Sebastian’s, we have three main objectives – local outreach, study and fellowship. Our ladies want to do good things in the local community, study the word of God and enjoy social activities and friendship with other like-minded women.
Our major fundraiser of the year is our Annual Card and Game Party which has been going on for at least 40 years and is always a delightful time. We have a least two spiritual days a year for bible study or other worship activity. Our social activities have included a trip to Bok Tower, many different local museums, plays at local theaters and, of course, lunch or dinner is always involved! Our outreach includes Senior Angels at Christmas, cards and Christmas bags to our housebound parishioners, Miles of Pennies which buys books for children all over the world and Church Periodical Club which buys bibles and textbooks for seminarians.

Who We Are - Prayer, Service and Evangelism
Daughters of the King are women and girls between the ages of seven and one hundred and seven who desire a closer walk with the Lord. We are Christian women, both lay and ordained, who are strengthened through the discipline of a Rule of Life, and supported through the companionship of our sisters. We are all at different stages of our Christian journey – some have just begun and some have been on this path for a long time. But no matter where we are on our sacred journeys, our primary goal is the same – to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known to others.
Vision Statement of the Order
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision as Daughters of the King is to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to become reflections of God’s love throughout the world.
Order vs. Organization
A Christian order is a community of men or women living under a religious rule. Because Daughters of the King accept a Rule of Life, we define ourselves as an order, not an organization. Our community is found primarily in our local chapters, but it extends around the world.
We don’t just enroll as members and attend meetings. After a three-month period of study and discernment, each new member takes vows to uphold the two Rules of the Order, the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.
Women of All Ages
Membership in the Order is open to women at every stage of life. The diversity of different ages strengthens and enriches our adult, or senior, Daughters of the King chapters. Younger women benefit from the discipleship of experienced spiritual mentors, and older women are invigorated by the fresh faith and energy of youth. Many senior chapters help spread the Kingdom to the next generation by sponsoring and supporting a Junior Daughters of the King chapter at their churches.
